Farm Business Innovation Show – Wednesday 6th & Thursday 7th November 2019 – Birmingham NEC

This week we’ll be returning to Birmingham’s NEC for the Farm Business Innovation show.

The event is targeted to the needs of  landowners – from smallholdings, to country houses and large scale farms. With 550 exhibitors in attendance the show aims to offer the largest variety of diversification ideas and opportunities at a single event and is a must-see for anyone looking to increase and ‘future-proof’ the income they generate from their land.

MSL has an information stand located in the ‘Farming’ section (location FR590), found between Keynote theatre 1 and the ‘networking area’. Most regions and soil types in the UK are actually very suitable for truffle cultivation and we’ll be happy to answer your questions around the process involved in farming truffles.

In addition to manning our stand, Dr Paul Thomas will be delivering a Keynote seminar on Wednesday and an additional truffle growers’ seminar on Thursday. For the full timetable and to obtain free tickets, please see Farm Business Show website. In previous years these talks are usually in high demand so we recommend arriving early if you’d like to be seated.

As well as going through truffle basics, truffle cultivation and the ‘business’ of truffles, Dr Thomas seminars will be discussing the scientific breakthroughs we’ve had in truffle cultivation, including growing the first black Perigord truffle in the UK (the first time this has been achieved north of France!). He’ll also be discussing how the UK truffle industry can benefit from climate change and presenting some of the findings from his research into these areas.

We always have fantastic feedback on the truffle growing seminars and we recommend attending them as although this seminar is primarily aimed at landowners who are looking for a mid to long term investment, anyone interested in truffles and how they’re grown will find the presentation interesting and will be very welcome.
