Truffles have been harvested for the first time on another of Mycorrhizal Systems’ truffle growing partner sites in the UK.
The ripe truffles were harvested in May, which is far earlier than would typically be expected for our native species Summer Truffle.

The ripe truffles were harvested in May, which is far earlier than would typically be expected for our UK native species Summer Truffle. In fact, it is so much earlier than expected the truffle had actually been found by a squirrel rather than a truffle dog!
The site had been planted 9 years ago and from the amount of truffles present we expect it has been producing for quite some time - another good reason why you should start truffle hunting regularly from around year 5 onward and throughout the year.
