As part of RE:LEAF, a partnership campaign led by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson to enable the planting of more trees in the capital, the Woodland Trust is offering 100 free tree packs to help community groups to get planting in their local area.
Originally launched by the Mayor at start of June, over 40 applications for the free packs have been received, meaning there are still another 60 up for grabs this autumn. Communities can apply online at:www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/londonfreetrees
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: "There has been a fantastic response to this giveaway, with neighbourhoods across the capital set to benefit from
new trees thanks to the sterling efforts of volunteers who have already claimed
their pack.
"Planting trees is a great way for people to come together to improve their local area and is a great example of how I want to help put the village back into the city and to improve quality of life."
