Charity money could soon grow on trees
This month MSL is delighted to have contributed to the Sheffield Lord Mayor's Charity Dinner, organized by city
councillor Ray Satur. We provided several free truffle trees to be auctioned to raise money for the charity, although it turned out that Ray had other plans.
Ray organized for the donated trees to be planted by the Friends of the Botanical Gardens on behalf of the charity, with harvested truffles to be sold and the money reinvested into the Botanical Gardens and the Lord Mayor's Charity. Friends of the Botanical Gardens spokesman Meg Jullien said: "It will be a long-term project though, because it is likely to take between four and seven years before any truffles appear, but it is hoped that when they do grow, they will find a ready market locally."
